Teen Strive Youth Initiative Teen Strive Youth Initiative is a programme for youths and young adults aged 16 to 28 led by the Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Ireland (SCTI) in partnership with Migrant Health Alliance Ireland (MHAI). Youth Fundraising Picnic 2022 The SCTI youth organised a Fundraising picnic during a summer festival at corkagh park in Clondalkin, Dublin 22 upon the uplifting of covid 19 restrictions in 2022. The focus of this fundraiser was to enable youth engagement and networking while Fundraising for the planned mental health project by photovoice which was to help youths affected by Sickle Cell disease and their peers to have an open platform to share their struggles and challenges during covid as part of recovery from strict isolation protocols which saw Sickle Cell as one of the conditions classed as critical for complete isolation under the HSE covid 19 guidelines. The funds raised were put towards providing a mental health counselling service for youths and young adults with Sickle Cell Disease post Covid. Celebrating World Thalassaemia Day with the Youths and Adults in Balbriggan 2019 Another very successful educational workshop organised by SCTI in patnership with Cairde to discuss topics relating to Thalassaemia awareness, Sickle cell anaemia and Mental Health and well being for the Youths. Educational talks focusing on Thalassaemia Disease and Sickle Cell were delivered by Ms Lora Ruth Wogu (CEO and Founder Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Ireland, Ms Adesiyan Apesin (Public relations officer and County Louth Support Coordinator SCTI branch), Sarah ( project manager Cairde), Emelia ( Mental Health expert Cairde) and the Matron and Youth Engagement Director Mrs Grace Onyinye Anyanwu. Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Ireland Longford Branch 2017 Launch of the Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Ireland Longford branch, and youth engagement in partnership with Chapel of Light Redeemed Christian Church of God. This branch expansion was a request from the community in the efforts to fight the prevalence of Sickle Cell disease in a growing Longford community, as well as educate, and empower the youths and adults to become advocates for Sickle Cell disease, by sharing vital knowledge to encourage informed decisions for the future of teenagers, youths and young adults, and in still empathy, compassion for their fellow peers living with Sickle cell disease. |
