Universal New-born Screening Campaign

A campaign started in 2012 to raise awareness of the need for genetic screening among target groups for better informed decisions. Followed by the launch of the Universal new- born screening campaign in 2013.
Promoting awareness of the need for adult genetic screening within direct provision migrant centres is part of the Sickle Cell awareness outreach educational project.
In the efforts to minimise the rise in new cases of Sickle Cell disease prevalence, in Ireland, promoting the “Be aware, know your genetic Status” screening campaign has become a major part of SCTI activities especially among the young adults in childbearing age, and parents to educate their youths.
